The Four Seasons Koh Samui is my favorite hotel in the world! I’ve stayed at different Four Season’s properties in the past and they’ve all been great but this particular property really stood out.
We flew in from Chiang Mai into to the Samui airport, which is a super chill airport. The ride to the resort was about 40 minutes or so and we were greeted at the reservations desk with welcome drinks and welcomed into the property.
After quickly checking in, we hopped into our buggies and drove to our individual rooms. The property is quite vast, it’s totally walkable, but if you are wearing heels or the weather is too hot , you may want to call a buggy for convenience.
It was recommended that we download the Four Seasons app, so that we could easily chat with service representatives for our every need. I ended up using the app to order buggies throughout my stay and also used it to order my pillow from the pillow menu! (more on that later)
The One Room Villa
Soooooo, my one-room villa was pretty epic.
The entrance to my villa was also pretty epic. One of the greatest features of the villa is that it is pretty secluded, so you can pretty much walk around the whole area nude and not have to worry about being seen. Visitors have to press a doorbell to enter. I felt totally safe and frequently left my door unlocked.
It had its very own pool with stunning views of the private beach and the entire property. The patio had plenty of seeking, you could totally host a cocktail party and small get together with your buddies (which I did!)
The Minibar
The villa included an espresso machine!
The Bedroom
The Bathroom
The bathroom area was huge and featured two sinks and a jewelry box. Every time housekeeping came into my room they would arrange my jewelry, which was scattered all over the place, neatly into the jewelry box, I loved it! Also, why is it that hotels in Asia always provide toothbrushes while hotels in other countries don’t? I also loved that a generous amount of bug spray was included in the closet.
The Bathtub
The bathtub was gorgeous and throughfully placed in the room. It’s meant for couples, with each laying their head on the opposite end of the tub. The especially thoughful part was that there is a mirror on the side that is not facing the window, so that person is denied the beautiful views outside! Amazing
Included for the bath is a coconut scrub from the spa
The Amenities
After an exhausting trip from the airport, my villa was a total oasis. Inside was a cold fresh coconut, filled with juice, chocolate-dipped dried mangos. Each day that I returned to my hotel room, there were some new goodies on my desk to try, from banana chips, to cookies, to rice crackers. There was so much food I couldn’t even eat it all!
Pillow Menu
Yasss the pillow menu is everything! It was my first time encountering one and it’s here that I first discovered my love for buckwheat pillows. There were about seven pillows available and different mattresses also! Also included as an option was a body pillow.
The Buffet
I’m absolutely in love with the FSKS buffet which takes place every morning at the KOH Thai Kitchen ! One especially stand out feature was the fact that there were two breakfast specials every morning that change every single day.
The specials that I saw during my trip were:
- Spanish Omelet with roasted peppers and wild rocket
- Pancake with pandan leaf and coconut cream sauce
- Poached egg, hummus, chorizo, and asparagus
- Coconut french toast with mango sauce and topped with caramelized pumpkin seeds
- French baguette topped with parma ham and emmental cheese
- Belgian waffles with mango and basil salad
The French toast was totally to die for! It was caramelized and grilled on the outside and super creamy and custard-like inside. The mango was preserved in jam and the toast was topped in caramelized pumpkin seeds topped with powder sugar. I’m salivating just recounting the dish!
Below is the poached egg and asparaus, gorgeous.
There are a selection of Asian and Thai dishes that rotate daily, American dishes, rotating pastry selections, dim sum, and more.
I love how the daily juices changed every single, especially loved the lychee juice. Also awesome is how they are in the grab and go bottles that you can take away to your room! The smoothie menu also changed every day.
There were also custom butters that changed every day like lime butter and chocolate butter and a heavenly coconut yogurt, made in house. I loved the array of in-house jams made from local flavors and I had the passion berry jam every single day! The bircher muesli is also a must have.
You can also opt order from the Breakfast menu. I recommend the banana cakes below.
You can also order the prawns with steamed egg custard, which I recommend.
Here are the breakfast selections.
Here’s my typical breakfast plate at the hotel!
Killer breakfast views
Restaurants
There are many restaurants on the property including the KOH Thai Kitchen, KOH Bar, Pla Pla, Cocorum, Rum Vault, and the Beach House
Pla Pla
We ate at Pla Pla one night, trying out their tasting menu which was super yummy. An extra bonus is that the chef Ivo Benidio is super hot.
The menu started out with an umami bomb, the parmesan popcorn. The courses included an heirloom tomato burrata, Phuket lobster coconut risotto, 72 hours cooked beef short rib and the Coconut Moon desert featuring a dolce de leche with passion fruit and mango. It was the perfect meal for a tropical summer night.
The vegetarians in our group had a pesto pasta instead of the beef and the chef was kind enough to bring out a plate for us meat-eaters to try. It was actually one of my favorite plates of the night!
Beach BBQ
The Four Seasons Koh Samui’s Beach BBQ is EVERYTHING. I recommend scheduling your visit to make sure that you are staying at the resort during the weekend, when the beach bbq takes place. It’s pretty much the most epic beach bbq you will ever experience.
Everything was so fresh and much of the dishes were made to order. Here are some of the dishes features:
Appetizers: Spanish Omelette, Smoked Red Snapper, Charcuterie Plate, Crab Salad, Veggies, Baked Potatoes, a cheese plate, a bottled Tomato Gazpacho (so good!) and more.
Salad: Greek Salad, Caprese salad, Potato and Tuna Salad, Chick Pea Masala, Thai Style Calamari Salad. There was also a made to order ceviche, featuring tuna and one other selection of fish.
Mains:
Thai: There was Pad See Ew, Tum Yum Soup, and a made to order Pad Thai
American: Made to order burgers and quesadillas. I am assuming these are for the kids. The burger was pretty killer though.
Grill: The beach bbq experience is all about the grill. The selections included fresh all you can eat lobster tails, prawns, calamari, lamb chops, and steak.
Desserts: Wow to the UNBELIEVABLE dessert offerings! There was a made to order pineapple flambe and a made to order mango sticky with coconut ice cream. Everything I tried was so good, including the delicate chocolate mousse and the perfect creme brulee (I had 3!)
The Spa
I was so excited to spend 90 minutes luxuriating in one of the spa’s signature treatments. We were so excited to find a delicious milk flower bath set up for us in our villas prior to our treatment!
There are four signature treatments, including the Lava Shell, Kala Coconut Treatment, Samui Fusion, and Secret Garden. I selected the Kala Coconut Treatment because I love the smell of coconut. This treatment features generous streams of Samui’s fragrant coconut oil and uses shells to give you an experience similar to a hot stone massage.
Upon arrival, you are treated to the spa’s Butterfly Pea Tea and a cold towel. After being introduced to your therapist, you are then lead onto the grounds to your own private massage room which has it’s own bathroom, shower, and changing room. Before the start of the massage, you are treated to a cleansing kefir lime foot scrub. Needless to say, the entire experience was heavenly.
One of my favorite things about Thai massages is the fact that the massage always starts with a foot bath. It always makes me feel super clean and cozy before starting the massage. At the Four Seasons Koh Samui spa, the sessions starts with a kefir lime and lemongrass scrub.
Activities
You never have to leave the grounds of the Four Seasons Koh Samui, there are tons of on-site activities to keep you entertained. Check out the daily schedule.
Muay Thai
We had a Muay Thai session with Muay Thai Instructor, Khun Aun-Anuphong Deesamer. The resort has it’s own Muay Thai boxing ring and you definitely work up a sweat! I had no muay thai experience prior to jumping in the ring but he definitely got me kicking and punching!
Yoga
Could you ask for a better setting for a yoga class? Sanya Tugman taught us an intermediate yoga class with some foundational training and we definitely worked up a sweat!
Pools
The main pool was quite gorgeous but since I had my own private pool, I spent most of my time there! By the way, the guests on this property were gorgeous and were totally fit and ripped.
Grounds
If you are hosting a special event on-site there are endless options available. This long table below is a great place to hold a large family dinner or a meeting.
Below is a popular site for proposals, we got a little peek at the set up before the question was popped later on that night!
Homes
Below is a sampling of the different private residences available for rental or you could purchase one also. There are one to five-bedroom villas available. They are even more luxurious than the regular hotel-style one-room villa that I stayed in.
Overall, it was a totally magical stay at the Four Seasons Koh Samui.
