So there’s having good skincare, and then there’s having flawless skincare, just skincare that goes way above and beyond. But when it comes to skincare, especially when traveling, it can be a bit hard to maintain. At least when you’re traveling, keeping up a solid skincare routine isn’t hard, at least when you’re doing the basics such as drinking plenty of water, getting sleep, and using a few skincare products (like moisturizing and cleansing your face), then you can at least know your skin is healthy.
While yes, by all means, traveling can be healthy for you, especially the mind and soul, sometimes it just doesn’t help the skin, especially when you’re trying to have both a nice time and keep your skin flawless. In fact, it might be even more challenging to keep skin totally flawless, those extra steps that are above just basic skincare. So, is it even possible to keep having flawless skin when you’re always on the go while traveling? Technically, yes, but it can be seen as more challenging. So, with that said, here’s how you can do it!
Try and Prep Your Skin Before You Go
So this should be both before when the trip actually starts and before your day starts (like heading out of the hotel). With that said, before embarking on your travels, it’s essential to prep your skin to ensure it’s in optimal condition. Basically, do what you can prior so maybe there will be slightly less work you need to do during the trip itself. Basically, it’s just the things that should already be in your routine, such as doing a deep exfoliation to slough off dead skin cells and unclog pores.
Shaving your face, both hair and dead skin, helps because it should be done at most once a week. But if you have a lengthy skincare program, do this before your trip starts because you might not be able to do it before. If you can, try following up with a hydrating mask to replenish moisture and strengthen your skin’s barrier. Masks can usually have an effect that lasts for a couple of days, which can help.
Of course, you still need sunscreen, even if you’re going on a winter holiday. Always do this before leaving your hotel. In general, do what you can before your trip, but also try to do what you can before you start your day during your trip.
Simplify Your Skin Routine Where You Can
So, if you usually have a 22-step skincare routine on a daily basis, then it’s pretty obvious you won’t be able to do that when you’re on a trip. There are plenty of limitations when it comes to all of that. While you might not be able to do something as extensive as that or even take skincare tools with you like microcurrent, there are still some things you can do. For example, you can (to a degree) simplify your skincare routine to keep your skin healthy.
Maybe it won’t be 100% flawless, but you can still make it pretty healthy. When you’re on the road, simplicity is key. You might want to look into streamlining your skincare routine by packing multi-tasking products that address multiple concerns at once. A lot of Kbeauty products already do that, so you can get some of those (like travel-sized products) for your routine. Again, they may not be 100% as effective as an extensive routine, but for the time being, they’ll work.
You Have to Keep Hydrated All The Time
Chances are, you already know that you need to be hydrated in order to have good skin; constant flakey skin is basically a major signal that you’re dehydrated. Usually, when traveling, especially in the summer, that seems to be when it’s most prevalent. In general, traveling can be dehydrating, both internally and externally- it doesn’t really matter what season (but summer is usually the worst).
So, in order to keep your skin plump and hydrated, drink plenty of water throughout your journey and avoid excessive consumption of alcohol and caffeine, which can further dehydrate your skin. Sure, skipping out on coffee, salty food, and caffeinated beverages during a vacation just makes the trip itself feel all the more boring (this is usually the time that people let loose with their diets), but it’ll be a better idea to either skip these or at least just keep chugging water and enjoy the unhealthy stuff in moderation.
But it’s not just food and drinks, either. Your skin itself is still going to need products. So you’ll have to have some moisturizers with you, and it might be a good idea to have a sheet mask, too. Usually hotels will have lotion in the bathrooms for free, so you could use these or just pack your own. Just keep hydrated. Your skin is going to NEED this if you want to make sure that it remains flawless during this trip.
